The Espionage Act Of 1917

Why Was The Espionage Act Created ?
The Espionage Act was created because it was an act to inform the government to know who is against America. President Woodrow Wilson and Attorney General Thomas Watt Gregory protected this act , but they considered and seen it as a compromise. The purpose of the act is to make sure nobody disrespected the government or the efforts of the war.

How Did The Espionage Act Of 1917 Changed The U.S ?
The Espionage Act Of 1917 changed the U.S Because it has been amended numerous amount of times over the years. It limited freedom to the U.S because if you were against the espionage act or you spoke out against the war you had to be killed or punished & that was a change to the Americans after the act was made. It targeted socialists or labor leaders .

Two Important Laws That Changed America

                                                                   -Amendment 15
                                                                   -Amendment 13

The 13th Amendment                                                                                 The 15th Amendment

Amendment 15 stated that race could not be used as a criteria for voting. This might have caused concern among the political leaders of slave states because they realized that if that were the case, they would basically lose all chance of being reelected. Think about it, would the slaves vote to reelect the people who allowed them to be slaves? Of Course Not...That is why they were concerned that now slaves were eligible to vote.

On September 23rd, 1862 Abraham Lincoln issued his Emancipation Proclamation. The statement said that all slaves would be declared free in those states still in rebellion against the United States on 1st January, 1863. The measure only applied to those states which, after that date, came under the military control of the Union Army. It did not apply to those slave states such as Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland, Missouri and parts of Virginia and Louisiana, that were already occupied by Northern troops. It was not until December 1865, when the Thirteenth Amendment of the Constitution had been passed by the House of Representatives and had been ratified by the required number of states, that slavery was finally abolished everywhere in the United States.

Splendid Little War

Newspapers & television can stir up so much feelings that they can create wars . They can create a war because they might have different opinions . When they have different opinions they end up arrguing. Then they start conquering and start trying to figure out whose right and whose wrong .

If I lived in Europe i would be conviced that the U.S Became a great world power by defeating spain because U.S won both of its naval fleets to the U.S navy. the US defeat of Spain on two fronts in such a short period of time from the Declaration of War to the signing of a Peace Treaty was seen as something that only a major world power could have put together.
